CR1000X and GPS16X-HVS GPS Receiver

weatherguy Jun 14, 2018 05:59 PM

The GPS16X-HVS GPS Receiver documentation has been updated to note the CR1000X but is a bit vague on 2 items.  First, The CR1000X specifications seem to indicate that PPS can only be used on the C1 port but the GPS docs do not address this (unless I missed it).  Second, the GPS16X-HVS GPS Receiver docs note that the CR1000X does not require the A300 converter.  However, there is no information stating how the 5V vs 3.3V difference is addressed.  So the questions are:

1. Does the GPS16X-HVS GPS Receiver only work with C1/C2 if PPS is to be used?

2. Does the CR1000X in conjunction with the GPS() instruction automatically handle the 5V vs 3.3V power difference or is some setting required to ensure the CR1000X understands that the GPS16X-HVS GPS Receiver PPS is being output at 3.3V instead of 5V?

I have my first CR1000X on order and want to have my program ready to go.

Thank you in advance!

Thank you for your questions weatherguy.

1- Yes, the GPS only works on C1/C2 on the CR1000X if PPS is used.

2- Yes, the CR1000X does handle the 3.3V levels. The CR300 and CR6 do as well. It is only the older dataloggers that require 5V level which requires that the A300 be used with them.

We will take a peek at our manual and make some adjustments per your questions.
