CR6 loses program after cycle of power

KRCD Jun 25, 2025 01:39 PM

Program needs to be reloaded every time power is cycled on both dataloggers. One we just got in two
weeks ago. The old datalogger we are sending in due to dropping out never had this issue. We would cycle
power and the program would come back. Both the one in use and spare have good internal lithium batteries.

The two most common causes of this are

1) A low lithium battery on CR6 with OS version <5.0. A relatd note, with OS version 5.0 (Oct 2016) "Running program name and the power-up program name stored in FLASH rather than battery backed RAM."

2) The program is not set to "Run on Power Up". This is the default option or behavior, but it is possible to have it set to "Run Now" but not "Run on Power Up". Confirm by inspecting the program run options in "File Control".

Thank you for the response. The lithium batteries were all above 3.6 volts. We saw that both programs had both the "Run Power Up" and "Run Now" check marked. We did notice that the new data loggers that lose the program when power is lost or cycled had OS 10. The older data logger without the issue has OS 9.0. We lost power for a few hours this past weekend. Our backup battery system lasted about 10 hours and once power was restored, we had reload the program.
