CR1000 logger with RS232-bluetooth adapter
Good morning,
i have a question about the use of a RS232-bluetooth adapter applied to a CR1000 logger.
Is there anyone that has already tried this solution? Could be compatibility problem?
How i have to modify connection option in the software on the pc?
There is a specific adapter model that is better to use?

Just about any adapter that supports Bluetooth SPP will work.
The one we currently recommend is the Airconsole 2.0. Use it in conjunction with our part 17394 USB to RS232 cable.

So you suggest to use a serial-USB converter and then a USB-bluetooth adapter.
How is powered the device you suggested? What do you mean with "that supports Bluetooth SPP"?

SPP means "Serial Port Profile". The connected bluetooth device appears in the software as a serial port.
The Airconsole has an internal rechargeable battery.
Hello - I have purchased the airconsole 2.0 to use the bluetooth communication. The kit comes with DB9 adapters for the cable which includes the bluetooth dongle. How is the airconsole supposed to be connected to the CR1000 datalogger? I ask this because of the previous statement of using serial-usb adapter 17394. If the 17394 adapter is used, the bluetooth dongle cable would not be used on the airconsole. Can the DB9 Std or Null adapter be used on the bluetooth dongle cable?
The airconsole documents also say that the RS232 connector puts out 5V. Can the supplied airconsole bluetooth cable be used with an optical isolator?

When you use a wireless adapter, you don't need to use an optical isolator for protection. For connecting to CSIO, an SC32B does work fine with it.
The baud rate on the bluetooth is limited, so the Wifi is recommended.
RJ45 adapters can be used, but you have to be sure to get the right type. Air Console only sells the female adapter, so you would need to use a male to male null modem cable with it. It is simplest to use the 17394 cable, since customers should have one anyway.
is it possible to connect the Airconsole to a CSIO port with a SC115 instead of using a SC32B and USB to serial cable?
I have limited space in my logger box, so would be good to avoid the 6' usb-serial cable
The SC115 would not work. The Airconsole does not have a USB driver for it.
You may be able to find a shorter USB to RS232 cable. Just make sure it uses a FTDI chip.

I would like to use Loggerlink on an Android table to view a data table that streams in data from an RS232 device once a second. Do you think the bluetooth baudrate would be fast enought to have the display of the table update every second?

I connect to the RS232 port with an RJ45 to DB9 adapter and the baud rates of both devices are set to the same.
I can't get the connection to work, is there some configuration that has to be applied in the air console?

Null modem cable or adapter. They say "Null Modem" on the connector. They cross the wires.
Transmit connnection on one end is connected to Receive on the other and vice versa. (As well as other wring).
